New City | Same Team
Moving to a new city changes a lot.
You find a new neighborhood, new restaurants, new routines and new people. But on game day, you are still cheering for the same team.
That is the idea behind NewCitySameTeam.com, a new directory designed to help fans find local bars connected to the teams they already love.
Maybe you moved from Seattle to Chicago and want to watch the Seahawks with other Seahawks fans. Maybe you are a Michigan graduate looking for the bar where Wolverines gather on Saturdays. Or maybe you are simply visiting another city and do not want to watch the biggest game of the season alone in your hotel room.
New City Same Team helps you find your people.
Search by Team or City
The directory is being built to work in both directions.
You can search for your team and see where its fans gather in different cities. You can also search a city to discover the many NFL, college football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer fan communities represented there.
A bar might be located in Chicago, but on game day it can feel like Seattle, Pittsburgh, Ann Arbor, Green Bay or anywhere else fans call home.
That connection is what makes these places special. They are more than bars showing a game. They are gathering places for people who share a history, a tradition and usually a very strong opinion about the officiating.
Built for Fans Who Have Moved
New City Same Team was inspired by a simple, real-life problem: moving to a new city and needing to find the Seahawks bar.
Searching online can produce scattered lists, outdated articles and social media posts from several seasons ago. Even when a bar shows a game, that does not necessarily mean it is the place where the team’s fans gather.
There is a difference between a bar with the game on and a true team bar.
Our goal is to make that distinction easier to find.
Built for the Bars, Too
Fan bars create communities. They welcome newcomers, organize watch parties and give people an immediate connection to a city that may still feel unfamiliar.
New City Same Team gives those bars another place to be discovered.
Listings will help fans understand which team a bar supports, where it is located and what they can expect on game day. Bars and fan groups will also be able to help keep the information accurate as affiliations, events and watch-party details change.
Starting in Chicago
New City Same Team is starting in Chicago, a city filled with people from everywhere.
Chicago has its own fiercely loyal sports culture, but it is also home to fans of teams from across the country. On any given weekend, bars throughout the city become temporary home fields for alumni groups, transplanted fans and visitors searching for familiar colors.
That makes Chicago the perfect place to begin.
From there, the goal is to expand city by city and team by team.
Help Us Build the Directory
NewCitySameTeam.com is just getting started.
If you know a great team bar, tell us about it. If your bar hosts a regular watch party, make sure it is included. If a listing has changed, help us keep it current.
Because moving may give you a new address, but it does not give you a new team.
New city. Same team. Find your bar.
